Learn specialty mold making with master artist Jerry Karlik of Florida Statuary & Molds, this hands on workshop covers rubber mold making, plaster profiles & sleds, custom tile inserts and casting using GFRC and UHPC concrete into detailed fireplace surrounds. Learn from the multi talentedveteran in his field, Jerry’s 40+ years of experience in mold-making will give you insight on how to take your 2-D shapes into the third dimension. Trainers from Polytek & Fishstone will also be assisting with this comprehensive class. Seats are limited for this hands on workshop in Crystal Lake, Illinois. This workshop is designed for professional concrete artisan, prior experience with precast concrete is needed.
Large fireplace surround designed with three customizable tile insets. You will make your own vertical tile square master and rubber mold with class materials to take home. Jerry will demonstrate a large horizontal tile insert along with creating a plaster profiles for detail effects on fireplace mantel and edges. Cast all molds with a lightweight GFRC mix and learn how to properly engineer and install the project.

We are very pleased Jerry has offered his expertise for this workshop. He is an extremely experienced master mold maker and sculptor who has been casting concrete for decades. Alongside his wife Patricia, Jerry, his father and his son, Chris have been in the Karlik family statuary business in one form or another for over 85 years. Florida Statuary and Molds specialize in the design and fabrication of fountains, statuary, fireplaces, planters, architectural elements, custom fine art castings and their molds. Jerry has been creating original works for public and private commissions along with exclusive copyright designs for manufacturer’s in the statuary and architectural world for the last 40 years.
