So I have been getting my 2" melamine strips for side walls cut by a carpenter. Then I pick them up. Is there an accurate way for me to this if I don't have a table saw setup?.....whats everybody else using for this?

Buy a table saw, they aren't that costly.

Sometimes I will go buy vinyl moulding from a big box store if I don't want to rip edges. I do this for 5/8", 3/4" and 1" strips.

You don't need a table saw. All you need to know is: the exact distance is between your circular saws blade and the left side of the cutting plane. Then you just need a low profile straight edge, a tape measure, a couple of c-clamps and I guarantee you will be able to cut side wall strips all approximately the same height.. This will only take an hour or so to set up but you should buy some extra melamine as you will might have some off cuts you can't use.

The other option is to buy a table saw, use the little dial to set the size you want and get exactly the same size side walls in almost less time then it takes remove all the small things you staked on it while it was just sitting there. But, if you go this route, don't loose the mitre attachment. I can't find mine and I'm starting to think I should really look for it.

Is there a third option?

Maybe this needs it own thread but I'm curious to see what you all think.

Make a saw board for your circular saw and you will have straight cuts every time. I made a two of these out of scrap melamine, 8' & 4' and use them all the time to cut melamine sheets down. Here is a vid showing how to build one

I have a table saw Josh....but I don't have a feeding table and it is a cheap and small table saw. I just moved into my new shop and I do have the room now to set one up. My last shop was to small to have a table saw setup. I was just wondering what everybody else was doing and if there were any other alternatives.

I've got a table saw, but it is still a challenge to muscle a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 melamine. I picked up a track saw and it works great. I lay the melamine onto a sheet of styrofoam and just climb on top. 

Cutting large sheets of anything is a problem unless you have a good panel saw. You can make great cuts however, with just a small table saw if you have a melamine blade and a good outfeed table to make life easy and safe.  A melamine blade is not cheap but is definitely worth it. You might ask a local cabinet shop where they get their blades sharpened, as it will start to chip out more as it gets dull. I find you really don't need a powerful table saw if you use the right blades for the job and always keep them sharp.

How much work space do you have? How many sheets of melamine will you cut a week? This matters a lot. If you have seriosly limited space(not enough room ror table saw and outfeed table) then it isnt an option. Panel saw would be slightly better as far as the space it takes up but would be limiting in other respects. You could always set up some saw horses wherever, make a circ saw guide(google it), measure and clamp it, and cut strips virtually anywhere with electrical power.

Ive got a smallish table saw and I built a base for it that attaches to one of my casting tables as an out feed table and i also made an auxiliary in feed that also attaches to the same casting table. It works pretty well, everything breaks down to be stored away.

Gotta gotta gotta get a decent table saw. Setting up an outfeed table is no big deal. I built a cheap one for mine out of 2/4's and a sheet of melamine. You should invest in a saw that has at least a 36" cut range. You can also hook up an over under dust extraction system and it will nab up about 90 percent of the dust created by the cutting. particle board is a major dust maker and this s*** is horrible to be breathing. To clamp rails and rip 2" rails is very time consuming and Ok if you are doing low volume. When ripping sheets on the table saw first split the sheet in half and then feed the smaller sections through the saw. The right tools are worth the investment. You could get a table saw and dust collection system for around 2k. Look around on craigslist for a good saw. You may find the people selling the feed table with it. A small dust collector would be fine. This is the dust collector hookup I use and its awesome. A guy around here stopped making counter tops and went strictly flooring. I bought his table saw setup for $600. The kicker is the table saw can be lowered cause its attached to a car jack. When you lower the saw the whole thing can be used as a casting table. Awesome setup
