I'm hoping someone has seen this type of sealer failure and can give me some advise as to why this happened, and how (if at all) it can be repaired....

I poured/sealed and installed this countertop about 6 weeks ago.  Last week, the client sent me the attached pic and tells me the sealer has failed from having an aluminium bowl sitting in the same spot for a few days.  Looking at the picture it appears that there is some kind of reaction with the concrete that has left a stain on both the concrete and the bowl....  This top was sealed with ICT, (application instructions followed very closely...) I've done many other tops with ICT and never had a call back.  This is an odd one...  I'm going to see the issue in person tomorrow, but if anyone has any experience with this type of situation, I'd be very interested to learn about it ahead of seeing the problem first hand.

Any input would be greatly appreciated...

This looks more like water was puddled under the pot for several days, hence the darkening.  The darkening should resolve itself as the moisture leaves the concrete, using some alcohol to draw the moisture out will help.

The aluminum pot, I don't think that is sealer reacting with the aluminum as much as it is the wet aluminum sitting is a puddle of water for several days.  My guess would be to ask if the water is softened or city water that has typical chemicals in it to make the water tolerable.

A good scrubbing of the pot should be all that it takes.

Once you go on site, I would be interested to see how this resolves.  

Basically agree with what Jon said but I know that aluminum doesn't play nice with concrete. That's why I never use it for inlays. If the water somehow got between the concrete and the aluminum then you would get a funky reaction. So I don't know if the ICT was done properly or maybe it was to soon to put water on it. Maybe she put the bowl on the surface the first day and didn't give enough time for the ICT to cure properly. *shrug*.....Point being I know aluminum reacts with concrete....

When I made it to see the issue last week, the water "stain" was gone, only a hard white "chalky" build up on top of the sealer.  I'm assuming this was the oxide from the aluminum bowl sitting in the water for several days.  I used a burnishing pad on my polisher and the oxide cleaned off after a few minutes.  No mark left at all.  I gave the area a wipe with an extra few coats of ICT for good measure, but the customer was happy with the outcome.  I was surprised with how hard the aluminum oxide stuck to the concrete, but at least we got it off...
